Ovulation (LH) Test Strips.
What is LH?
LH stands for Luteinizing Hormone.
LH is important in both females and males for purpose of reproduction.
In normal fertile female, Luteinizing hormone (LH) increases dramatically also known as the 'LH Surge', just before ovulation, when the egg is released from woman's ovary.
What's the purpose of Ovulation (LH) Strips?
Ovulation (LH) Test Strips are used to detect "LH Surge".
Normal fertile ladies will ovulate in the middle of their cycle, in theory.
However, in real life it is not always as per text book.
We sometimes ovulate a little bit earlier, or later. (that's why for those with 28-days cycle, it is recommended to test from Cycle Day (CD) 11.
For those trying to conceive, the trick is to catch the two best days to conceive, as an egg lives only 12-24 hours after leaving the ovary! If an egg is not fertilized, it disintegrates and is absorbed into the uterine lining.
What is a negative test result? How does it looks like?
Negative means absence or lighter than control line. (as below)
It means no surge detected. Photo below is taken as CD 6.
What is a positive test result? How does it looks like?
Positive results is a test line equal or stronger than the control line.
Ovulation is expected 24-48 hours after a positive test result.
Photo below is a sample of a positive test at CD 17.
